By charging interest on student overdrafts and not offering a free grant to people studying, the banks will be forcing many students into getting jobs while studying. Fine for, say, an arts student, but I’d rather future biochemists get the chance to hone up on their craft without having to do a swing shift at the local Sainsburys.
